I have been using the Pasta Sauce mix and I cannot get 5 pints out of it. The package says 6lbs of tomatoes and this last time I used 8lbs and still ended up short. What am I doing wrong? Any tips?

TIA

I too have wondered about that....Have you looked at the new fruit and cilantro salsa mix? It calls for1-2 fresh mangos or 15 oz can, 3-4 fresh peaches or 15 1/2 oz can, and 1 fresh pineapple or 20 oz can......thats 50 ounces of fruit if you used canned. The front of the package says makes 1 pint....so how much does it really make?

I don't know about the sauce, but with the salsa, it says 2 mangoes or canned mangoes OR the peaches OR the pineapple. If you're using all three then it says to use a combination up to two cups to get your pints.

We can around 50 gallons of salsa, pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce and chili sauce using Mrs. Wages mixes every August. We puree the tomatoes for the spaghetti sauce in a food processor and measure out 5 pints for each package of Mrs. Wages Seasoning mix. Each batch is 30 pints of pureed tomatoes and 6 packages of Mrs. Wages.

I think it all depends on the type of tomatoe you use... If you are using a Roma, or love apple, (very meaty, little juice) or a big boy, steak (little meat, lots of juice and seeds) and also how you dice and slice it. I find that my salsa is usually runny, ao I always have to add a thickening agent like Tomatoe paste. I almost always get 5-7 jars, that never last,,,YUMMY

I can't get 5 pints either from 6 cans of petite tomatoes. I managed to get 3. The recipe definitely needs to change up a tad.

I've had the same problem. Now I measure out 5 pints of prepared tomatoes per package of mix. It gives me over 5 pints when youre done, but I can fill my jars.

I have the opposite problem. I have made the salsa twice. Weighed my tomatoes. Six pounds both times. I have ended up with 6 pints of salsa - or 5 1/2. Guess I need to measure and not weigh.
